Bisalloy Steels today hosted a visit by The Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull.

The visit follows the recent Australian Government announcement of Rheinmetall as the successful bidder for the Australian Government’s $5.2 billion LAND 400 Phase 2 Armoured Vehicle program.

Bisalloy has entered into a teaming agreement with Rheinmetall to supply its Australian-made BISALLOY® Armour steel for the production of over 200 Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRVs) to be manufactured by Rheinmetall.

During the visit Mr Turnbull toured the plant inspecting Bisalloy’s production process and meeting many of the company’s production and technical personnel. The Prime Minister took the time to talk to many of the employee’s and also engage in a number of “selfies” when asked.

Following the tour Mr Turnbull met with Bisalloy CEO and Managing Director, Greg Albert and members of the management team to further discuss the company’s activities and plans in the high performance steel industry.

“On behalf of all Bisalloy employee’s I’d like to express our appreciation to the Prime Minister for taking the time today to visit Bisalloy Steel,” said Greg Albert.

“The agreement with Rheinmetall is a significant milestone in our company’s development and to have Mr Turnbull show a personal interest in our company and the project will have a positive impact right across our company.”

“I’m also pleased that Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s Managing Director, Gary Stewart was also able to be here today to share in the Prime Minister’s visit and discussions.”

Bisalloy expects to commence supply of its high performance BISALLOY Armour steel product to Rheinmetall in late 2018 in preparation for the delivery of the first BOXER CRVs in 2020.
