Bisalloy strengthens European ties with visit from German steel producer

Bisalloy Steels recently welcomed key personnel from German specialist steel producer Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH (Ilsenburger), a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, to Australia. Among other things, discussions between the two companies covered the possible manufacture of Bisalloy products in Germany for sale in various markets.

The meetings, which took place at Bisalloy’s manufacturing facility at Unanderra on the New South Wales South Coast, also focussed on Ilsenburger’s ongoing supply of specialised green feed products to the Australian company.

Collaboration between Bisalloy and Ilsenburger began in Germany last year. With an annual output of around 700,000 tonnes and a history that dates back to 1858, Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH is one of Europe’s largest and best-known heavy plate producers.

“Bisalloy has seen sustained growth over the past year, not only at home in Australia but also abroad. As our exports rise, we are intent on strengthening our presence in larger markets around the world,” said Justin Suwart, Bisalloy Steels Business Manager.

“In this context, we value our developing relationship with Ilsenburger as an opportunity to deepen our presence in Europe. We are keenly aware of the benefits of associating ourselves with a manufacturer of this calibre and look forward to many more years of co-operation between our two companies.”

Andreas Rost, Head of Order Management and Technical Advisory Service thanked his hosts for their hospitality.

“We are highly satisfied with the outcomes of our meetings here in Australia. The talent and expertise we have witnessed at Bisalloy reinforce our commitment to the company as a world-class manufacturer of high-tensile and abrasion-resistant quenched and tempered steel plate. This visit has been a great success.”
