Bisalloy’s range of Bisplate grades is remarkable. Even more remarkable is the fact that these revolutionary products don’t require any special equipment to bend, drill, cut or weld them. Continual developments in chemistries and processing mean Bisplate is amongst the most user friendly quenched and tempered steel in the world.

A downloadable version of these publications can be found in the Technical section or a hardcopy can be obtained by contacting Bisalloy Steels.

Corporate Brochure

An introduction to Bisalloy, the company and its products.

Bending & Rolling

Bisplate can be cold formed successfully. Due consideration should be given to increased bending force, bend direction and appropriate minimum former radii for grade and thickness of plate being formed

Welding

Bisplate can be easily welded using conventional techniques and readily available consumables.

Turning & Milling

Turning and milling operations can be performed satisfactorily on the full Bisplate range, however carbide tooling is required. Reduce both the feed rate and surface speed when performing these operations.

Cutting

Bisplate can be gas cut by oxy, plasma, laser and water jet processes. Minimal preheats are recommended for all 425 and 500 grades and thick plates of other grades.

Size Range

Bisplate is manufactured in both our standard size range and custom sizes, depending on raw feed availability and quantity. All our plates are manufactured to tolerances within those specified in AS 1365-1986.

Drilling

Bisplate can be drilled successfully using Cobalt type high speed steel drills for plate hardness up to 400 Brinell. Drills with carbide inserts are recommended for Bisplate 425 and 500. Appropriate feed and speed rates should be considered.

Design Examples

Five structural design examples demonstrating the significant savings achievable in the areas of weight and cost by using Grade 690 MPa Bisplate 80 steel instead of the more commonly used lower grade structural steels.
